Leading Minnesota Trade School Reopens With Commercial-grade HEPA Air Purifiers in Each Classroom

Watch our video showcasing how ISO-Aire has benefitted a local Minnesota trade school.

For more than 20 years, Sheet Metal Workers Training Center Local 10 in Maplewood, Minn. has taught apprentices the art and science of a transformational trade. Upon reopening after the COVID-19 shutdown in late 2020, the center's team of air quality and ventilation experts experimented with several air filtration devices to purify the indoor air. The ISO-Aire RSF500I out-powered the competition, and now protects students and staff with commercial models that house both medical-grade HEPA filtration as well as ozone-free bipolar ionization to capture and destroy 99.99% of airborne pathogens and indoor contaminants.

"We researched how to reopen safely, and the number one priority was making sure the air was clean and that we had a safe environment for our 450 apprentices and instructors," explained Carl Zitzer, training center coordinator. "Given our expertise in HVAC and air quality, others look to us for guidance. We want to be on the cutting edge, offering the safest, cleanest, healthiest air for our community."

Both ASHRAE and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend portable, in-space HEPA filtration to enhance protection against transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and other airborne pathogens as well as pollen, mold, VOCs, and dust. As Carl mentioned, choosing in-space ISO-Aire units marks the school’s long-term investment and commitment to its community.

"Air quality is our business and livelihood, and we're looking toward the future to continuously work to control the airborne particulates we cannot see, taste or smell - but we know they're there," Carl explained. "High-end, commercial grade air purifiers will make a big difference to protect everyone from the unknowns whether that's allergens, pollutants or viruses. You've got to bring in fresh air, too; but you also need to protect your indoor environment by recirculating clean air."

The Training Center's classrooms are protected with portable ISO-Aire RSF500I models engineered with a 12-inch HEPA and ozone-free bipolar ionization. The dual approach offers added layers of protection in higher-occupancy school settings and work in an offense/defense type purification strategy to capture and destroy contaminants.

Daycare centers, preschools, K-12 schools, trade training centers, and universities have chosen a clean-air COVID-19 mitigation strategy with sterilized indoor air in place to safeguard occupants.
